Crossed Paths – Oak Tree
In the winter lockdown of 2021 I made what was meant to be the first phase of crawling with an Oak tree along the promenade in Aberystwyth for the hour long 3rd Global Be- coming Tree online Live Art event in January 2021. I was reported to Aberystwyth University, where I teach, for doing an activity that the ‘snitch’ didn’t consider to be exercise, work or necessary. The complaint rendered it impossible for me to continue my goal to crawl the length of the 2 mile promenade. The oak tree was a young sapling taken from a friends garden, its twig like quality is embarrassing now in relation to the larger older trees I carried since, but this first iteration of this now on going project remains hugely important to me and testament to that very strange period of time in all of our lives.
