Biography

I am an artist based in Aberystwyth, Wales, UK, where I am the Coordinator of the B.A Creative Arts and full time lecturer in fine art at Aberystwyth University.

I studied at UWIC Cardiff, Emily Carr Vancouver B.C, The Royal Academy Schools, London and Goldsmiths University, London.

I work across disciplines predominantly in video, text, and audio installation and drawing.

I have recently developed a site- specific performance and film project Crossed Paths – Wales with the Pwyllerian Upland Research Centre, Institute of Biological, environmental & Rural Sciences (IBERS), Aberystwyth University and Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, Wales. The project was funded by the Arts Council Wales.

My multi screen audio and text installation Passage also funded by Arts Council Wales and developed through residencies in Wales, Turkey, Mexico, Thailand and Germany was exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Art (ICIA) Bath. My multi screen exhibition ‘Is it Ok If’ also funded by Arts Council Wales was exhibited at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Wales.

Most recently I have presented work at Hugo Gallery, London, the Royal Geographic Society, London, Teatro San Domenica, Italy, Schloss Woldersdorf, Vienna, Gallery Karsi, Istanbul and the Austrian Cultural Forum, Ankara, Turkey.

My drawings have been shortlisted for the Jerwood drawing Prize and the Pizza Express Prospects Prize. Individual works have recently been included in exhibitions curated by Edward Lucie – Smith and Zavier Ellis at the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre, Lithuania, The Torrance Art Museum, California and Charlie Smith London gallery, London, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, Temple Bar, Dublin, Site Gallery, Sheffield, Glynn Vivian, Swansea, The Collective Gallery, Edinburgh, Stills Gallery, Edinburgh, The Courtauld Institute of Art, G39 Cardiff and the Contemporary Art Society, London. I had a two person show in 2009 at Gimpel Fils, London. Stuart Pearson Wright, Irene Bradbury and Soraya Rodriguez have included my work in group exhibitions alongside artists including Tracey Emin, Julian Opie, Paul Noble, Michael Landy, Chris Offili and Gillian Wearing.

I was Arts Council England Artist in Residence in Berlin 2005. A recipient of an Arts Council Wales Major Creative Wales Award 2012, Arts Council recipient in 2009, 2004, and London Arts Development Fund 2003. I was artist in residence at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Maumau, Istanbul, Turkey, Ondarte International Artists Residency, Yukatan, Mexico and Ne’Na Contemporary Art Space, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I am a member of the International Arts Collective Crema Collective/krema Kollettiva, the itinerant Temporary School of Experimental Geography (TSOEG) and EdgeWork. I am represented by Vane and associate member of Paper Gallery, I am an associate member of the Institute of Arts and Humanities Screen Practice research cluster, Abersytwyth University.
