Joy Division were a post punk band from Salford formed in 1976 – vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Summer, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris .Isolation was on their second and final album Closer. The electronic drum beat accompanied by the thin trebly keyboard made me very sure and excited that it needed to go with an animation starring my second ever home grown radish, from seed, we ate the first one, it was absolutely delicious – with salt, a truly momentous proud occasion!. I had the idea to do an animation while eating it. Ash my wonderful Seed Bed assistant was the ‘radish flicker’ while I operated the camera. I muddled the audio for two reasons, one because I haven’t got copyright permission, I will look into it, and two because putting the delay on it seemed to make sense with the jumpy radishes and the whole idea of isolation – disconnection, disorientation and fragmentation. Its purposefully annoying, its meant to be grating, but I hope the 2.55 mins is worth watching!
