16th July – The End

It has been a long time since my last post on the 4th April, my father died on 30th April, a week after the exhibition, I found myself stunned and catapolted into a period of total lack of focus and motivation so it has taken me until now to update my website and complete the blog posts for the first part of this trilogy project.

Since the 4th April a lot has happened;

The publication was finished and printed, 22 of the edition of 125 were sold in the gallery and now thanks to Laila Curtis who featured the exhibition and project alongside an excellent essay by Iliyana Nedkova it is for sale with Edgework for £20.00 https://www.edgework.co.uk/

Woolly Maggot the documentary film by Rhys Thwaites -Jones and Fforest Films has had just under 3,000 views on Vimeo https://vimeo.com/261807966https://vimeo.com/263207913

On the run up to the exhibition the project was featured in BBC news online, ITV Regional News, BBC Radio Wales, Junior Week, The Daily Post and The Country Times, and a review in The New Welsh Review

The Panel Discussion chaired by Iliyana Nedkova on the day of the preview went very well with an audience of over 50 and the preview was a great success and a wonderful occasion

The Field Trip was a great success including brilliant creative and informative contributions by Phil Smith, Mariecia Fraser and John Davies

Information, video and audio footage and images on all of the above can be found on my website.

To complete this part of the project I delivered a presentation at the Pwllpeiran Upland Research Centre last Thursday 12th July, it was an interesting and welcome challenge to address this audience.

So now the next chapter…Crossed Paths – Scotland…before he died Dad said to me “we will keep doing ‘it’ together, I’ll be doing ‘it’ with you” so off we go dad.. to the Cairngorms..
